Pay-As-You-Go Auto Insurance

Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner of California released regulations permitting and authorizing mileage verification for pay-as-you-drive. The idea being that Californians won't drive as much if they pay-per-mile.

Spokesmen from a few Insurance companies, including State Farm and Allstate, have stated that they are considering pay-per-mile auto insurance but haven't decided whether or not it'll actually become a reality.

With the economy being the way it is, getting a...

3 Quick Tips for Saving Money on Car Insurance

Raise Your Deductible
Increasing the amount of money you pay if you have a claim can greatly decrease your monthly rate, so if you consider yourself a safe, low-risk driver you might be better off with a higher deductible. If you've had a few claims in the past, paying more each month might be a financially safer route.

Choosing Your Car

Choose carefully before you buy, some cars are more likely to be stolen than others. Check...

Think you know your stuff when it comes to cars? We've put together a fun little game that tests out your car-kung-fu. The quiz is organized so you have a maximum of 4 points per question, and you lose more points depending on how many clues you ask for or how many times you guess wrong.

Some of the questions are pretty tricky, but it gets easier as you go because you narrow down the number of possible answers, so by the end you're hopefully only choosing between a handful...

The Top 10 Most Stolen Cars in the US

Many years ago someone stole my car. It was a 1988 Toyota Camry and I'd left it in a secured parking garage underneath my apartment building. The thief stole the car, filled the trunk with used clothing (the kind you'd find at a goodwill), and ended up parking it about 10 blocks away with most of the gas left in the tank. They also left a burrito wrapper from 7-11 on the floor.

It wasn't exactly the crime of the century.

I'm now the owner of a new car, and after ...

...don't be shy about touting your child's grades to your insurer. Most companies offer "good student" discounts. For instance, State Farm takes 9% to 35% off a premium, depending on the student's gender and whether he or she is kept on the policy as ...

Ever heard one of those slogans before? If you've spent anytime near a television or radio in the past ten years, chances are you have, and chances are those slogans now mean very little to you. I get it: corporations broadcast and repeat a slogan, customers get to know that slogan and associate it with that brand, and custome...
